Erin Morton APR, CPRC President of FPRA Gainesville Chapter
Hello, FPRA Gainesville! I am so excited to begin my year as president of our chapter, and I would like to start with a heartfelt thank you to our entire membership for entrusting me and our incoming board of directors for the year ahead. We have had a busy summer already – with our Sun, Fun & Finances crash course to get us started with the budgeting process and our New Board Member Boot Camp to help everyone learn the ropes!
As a board, we pledge to responsibly lead this chapter and keep building on the momentum that our outgoing President Kevin Coulson, APR, has created for us as a group. Kevin’s leadership and enthusiasm over the past year has truly been inspiring. We accomplished so many exciting feats with Kevin as our fearless leader, and I know our entire membership joins me in thanking him for his service to our chapter.
As I have prepared to step into this leadership role, I’ve reflected on all of the elements that make FPRA such a strong factor in our success as public relations professionals. And I think about all of these elements of success coming together through our involvement in FPRA…leadership, teamwork, professional development, education, networking, passion, friendship, comradery – and although each of our careers and professional goals are unique, we each have the opportunity every day through FPRA to blend these elements together – it truly is the Science of Success.
So, get ready to be challenged this year to think outside the box. Your Board of Directors…our team of scientists for the year… has amazing chemistry, and we’re going to be thinking critically, observing, gathering data and formulating ideas, with the goal of providing you with the tools you need to achieve that “big bang” in your career.
I look forward to hearing from you throughout the year. I want to help each one of you create the perfect formula to help you be successful in your PR career. So, I encourage you to experiment with your FPRA experience…try mixing it up a bit! Think about the Science of YOUR Success…what elements will help you in being more successful in your career – and how can FPRA help you in achieving that?
Stay tuned to upcoming messages, where we’ll walk through the elements of professional development, networking and leadership that are such important factors in all of our success.
As I conclude, I want to thank you all again for trusting me as your mad scientist for the year! I promise to honor and respect the deep, rich traditions and history that our Chapter celebrates, while also mixing in plenty of new and exciting programming and opportunities….it truly should be an explosive year! Up to this point in my career and professional journey, FPRA has truly helped me achieve success, and I want to join you all in exploring the Science of Success this year through the Gainesville Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association.
