Spiro Kiousis, Ph.D., APR, executive associate dean for UF’s College of Journalism and Communications and professor of public relations, discussed Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump’s campaigns’ public relations efforts, focusing on their handling of media relations, fundraising and get-out-the-vote efforts. According to the data presented, Trump is ahead in media relations and social media, and Clinton is ahead in donor and volunteer relations. Kiousis said he thinks he knows who will be our next president, but intelligently kept that information to himself.
Members also brought their bosses to the program in honor of Boss Appreciation Day. Plus, Partnership for Strong Families shared their Wish Upon a Star 2016 – Holiday Gift Drive.
If you didn’t get a chance to purchase a ‘Star’ from Partnership for Strong Families, now’s your chance! Help make the holiday season special for area foster care children by shopping for wish-list gifts just for them! Stars for each child will list their name, age, gender, sizes and favorite things. Sponsorship is a minimum $50 commitment of two or more items valued at $25 each. Shop now through Thanksgiving weekend, then wrap and deliver gifts to the Partnership for Strong Families’ collection site at Northwest Baptist Church, 5514 NW 23rd Avenue on November 28 and 29.
To have a star emailed to you or for more information, contact FPRA Community Relations Director Kimberly Buchholz at kimberlybuchholz@ufl.edu or Patty Carroll, Partnership for Strong Families, community and government relations manager, at patricia.carroll@pfsf.org.
Thank you again to the October Monthly Program sponsor, Liquid Creative Studio.
Join us at next month’s program on November 17! We will have a joint luncheon with American Advertising Federation of Gainesville. Celebrate the season of giving with Tyler’s Hope for a Dystonia Cure. They will share their advertising and PR efforts they use to establish an emotional connection with potential donors and volunteers for a relatively unknown disease.
