Kevin Coulson, director of marketing and business development at Meridian Behavioral Healthcare, Inc. is currently serving as Vice President of Member Services. He has been an active member of the Gainesville Chapter of FPRA since joining in 2008 and has previously served as educational services director, treasurer, secretary and programs director. Kevin believes that the professional development he’s gained from being an FPRA member is outstanding but it’s nothing compared to the friendships and working relationships he’s built with other members.
In his role at Meridian his primary function is to increase organizational and programmatic awareness and to support philanthropic initiatives. PR and social media play a big role in his job at Meridian. “Every day we work hard to tell our story, increase awareness, and strengthen relations with our target audiences. Social media plays a big role in demystifying what we do and expanding our reach,” said Kevin. He finds that realizing and achieving mutual benefits for both the target audiences and Meridian is one of the best things about working in public relations.
Kevin’s favorite thing about Gainesville is the community culture and the quality of life. He believes Gainesville residents are very forward thinking and appreciates the fact that there’s always something to do, even though it’s not a large metro area. Kevin earned his BS in marketing with a minor in management at the University of West Florida.
FPRA Members might be surprised to learn that Kevin loves to cook, plays golf and enjoys craft beer. He also used to be quite the skateboarder and play the viola. Now, he’s learning how to play the guitar. Although he was born in Sacramento, CA he now claims Florida as home.
