Last year, I decided I wanted to become more involved with FPRA because I was a “wallflower” my first two years. At one of our luncheons, Amelia Bell, APR, CPRC, announced the chapter was seeking members for committees. I immediately emailed her about my interest when I got back to my office. Not knowing which committee to join, she gave my name to Laura Aguiar, APR, who was the director of professional development.

Laura called me up, and I joined her committee. I enjoyed working with her and the other committee members to make the Professional Development Symposium a fun and informative event. Working on this committee also helped me meet more people and grow my professional network. And I guess I did a pretty good job because Laura nominated me to take over as director of professional development this year.

If you are looking for a way to get more involved with FPRA, I would love your help to put on a great Professional Development Symposium in May. If interested, you can reach me at 352-374-1523 or Joey.Mazzaferro@ffbf.org.
