“Pursuing my master’s degree through the University of Florida College of Journalism & Communication’s online master’s program has profoundly shaped my career trajectory. In late 2020, as a new mom, I was eager to continue advancing my public relations skills while balancing family life and my current role. The program’s flexible structure empowered me to pace myself and take meaningful breaks as needed, including during my maternity leave with my second child. Each course deepened my understanding of strategic communications, challenged me to critically reflect on how to approach campaign planning and allowed me to explore my interest in communications on a global scale – my favorite course being Global Activism and Social Change. While enrolled, I advanced from associate account director at a health-based PR agency to communications director for the UF College of Health & Human Performance. Earning this degree elevated my professional credibility, and I believe it played a pivotal role in helping me secure my current position. Reflecting on my experience as a double gator, I am grateful for how the program supported my personal growth and professional aspirations.”
