What’s the first word that comes to mind when you hear leading global surgical implant company? If you said, “Fun!,” then you’re likely Ashley Kobza, corporate communications associate at Alachua, Fla.-based RTI Surgical.

Ashley burst onto the FPRA scene at the end of July, radiating energy in all things public relations. A member of the University of Florida College of Journalism & Communications class of 2015, she joined FPRA to get some insight on how to channel all that energy as she starts her career.

“I think it is really important in any stage of life to know you aren’t alone and to seek advice from wiser people who have gone through, or are going through, the same stage of life,” she said on why she joined the association. “FPRA is a great way to network with others who have experience in the field and who can give me advice on situations I may go through down the road.”

With her busy role at RTI Surgical, it sounds like that guidance will quickly come in handy as she tackles the day-to-day communications between RTI Surgical stakeholders and her team. Between planning events, writing and sending out monthly newsletters, crafting donor stories and updating social media, Ashley is all-hands-on-deck with the RTI Surgical global communications team.

“Each day is a new day with 10-15 more things on my ‘to-do’ list,” she said. “It’s very fun, challenging and exciting, and I’ve really enjoyed my experience so far. “

Yet when she stopped in at her first FPRA program at Sweetwater Branch Inn in August, she saw an opportunity to take on more challenges. She’s already joined the Local Image Awards Committee! It seems like we could have quite the leader in the making.
