Andy Hopson, a 30-year agency veteran, recently joined the University of Florida to launch an integrated advertising and public relations agency called The Agency, which will be housed in the College of Journalism and Communications. The Agency will be led by professionals and staffed by an ever-fresh team of students. The intent of the endeavor is to create immersive learning opportunities for students who will work in a real world environment for major clients under the direction of seasoned leaders. Hopson aims to establish an international reputation for The Agency by focusing on marketing to Millennials. A foundation of The Agency will be a Millennial Research Hub that tracks and monitors the behavior and preferences of Millennials as it relates to brand loyalty, how they receive information and what influences them. Join us to learn about Hopson’s vision for The Agency and their progress to date.
About Our Speaker:
Andy is a cross-functional marketing professional and public relations and advertising leader. Drawing from experience that crosses a broad array of industry types, he is skilled at product launches, branding and rebranding exercises and addressing complex strategic marketing challenges. He has a knack for coalescing multi-discipline teams to create seamless holistic campaigns.
He began his career on Capitol Hill as Press Secretary for a Utah congressman, subsequently serving in senior positions at PR and advertising agencies including stints as president and COO of EvansGroup and Publicis Dialog, president and CEO of Burson-Marsteller’s Northeast Region, president of Noble Communications and managing director of Ruder Finn/Chicago. Throughout his career Andy has had the opportunity to work with dozens of iconic brands including, Nestle, Gardenburger, PetSmart and Southwest Airlines. He has also helped create demand for agricultural commodities, including California Table Grapes, Cranberries, Hazelnuts, Soybeans and Washington Potatoes.
