Amelia Bell is currently serving as President-Elect for the 2013-2014 FPRA Gainesville board. Amelia has been involved in FPRA since 2005 when she was encouraged to join by a colleague. She has previously held five other board positions, including Vice President of Member Services, Professional Development Director, Accreditation Director, Educational Services Director and Image Awards Director.
She is a Senior Marketing and Communications Specialist at Gainesville Regional Utilities where she is responsible for employee communications to approximately 850 employees. She also assists with media relations and customer communications. Her favorite thing about working in public relations and being involved in FPRA is the myriad of opportunities it provides, from event planning to working with the media. “There is always something new to do,” Amelia said.
When asked what her favorite thing about Gainesville is, Amelia said, “I love the abundance of parks and trails. There are so many places to bike and run!” Something you might not know about Amelia is that she has only missed one FPRA luncheon that she RSVP’d to. That was the March luncheon in 2009, the day her son was born. Several FPRA members even visited her in the hospital after the luncheon.
