Chapter Committee Responsibilities
Board Liaison
As a Board Liaison to a committee, you must:
- Act as a facilitator, assist as needed with recruitment of committee chair and members.
- Communicate the action plan to the committee and present any necessary changes to the board for approval.
Submit the committee's budget for board approval.
- Oversee the committee's budget, present any unbudgeted items of more than $100 to the board for approval.
- Provide a brief report on the committee's progress at each board meeting.
- Report pertinent news to the committee chair after each board meeting.
- Complete assigned sections of the Chapter Management Report.
- Develop professional relationship with appropriate state vice president or state liaison.
Committee Chair
As a Committee Chairperson, you must:
- Recruit an adequate number of committee members to ensure successful implementation of committee goals.
- Encourage involvement of all committee members, maintain regular contact with members (may require phone calls, reminder notices, etc.)
- Cultivate future leaders.
- Submit committee budget for board approval (in conjunction with board liaison), ensure that expenditures fall within budget guidelines, submit proposed unbudgeted expenditures over $100 to board liaison for board approval.
- Schedule regular committee meetings.
- Ensure accurate minutes are kept at each committee meeting.
- Maintain sample file of committee materials (printed tools, minutes, photos, etc.) and other data as requested for Chapter Management Report.
- Coordinate internal and external publicity for committee activities (articles in chapter faxes and newsletter, announcements during chapter meetings, news releases, etc.)
- Provide report of committee's activities to board liaison for presentation during monthly board meeting.
