The Gainesville Chapter of FPRA and the UF College of Journalism and Communications would like to thank you everyone that attended Netroots Rising: Grassroots Communications in a Digital World on May 8, 2009 at the Graham Center for Public Service at UF.  Those that attended got to hear from excellent speakers that included: Jane Adams, University Relations at UF; Ron Sachs, Ron Sachs Communications; Justin Sayfie, Sayfie Review; and Rich Mintz, Blue State Digital.  Make sure to check out the photos from the event below.

Speaker Line-up:
Richard Mintz, Regional Vice President of Blue State Digital, will speak on the use of Web and social networks. Blue State Digital managed the online fundraising, constituency-building, issue advocacy and peer-to-peer online networking aspects of Obama’s 2008 Presidential campaign.

Jane Adams, Vice President of University Relations for the University of Florida, will talk about the importance of building grassroots support as part of UF’s legislative effort.

Ron Sachs, president of Ron Sachs Communications, will talk about the dark side of digital and Web communications.  He’ll look at the challenges the Web presents when it comes to establishing relationships, and the challenges of dealing with audiences varying in age from 8 to 80.

Justin Sayfie, publisher of www.sayfiereview.com, will discuss the impact of digital communications on the political scene in Tallahassee and throughout the state.  The SayfieReview is a must read for all politicians and lobbyists in Florida.  This online publication was started as Sayfie’s blog several years ago.
