Position: Marketing Communications Intern

RTI Biologics is a biotech firm that produces implants for spine, sports medicine and other orthopedic surgeries.  We are searching for a marketing communications intern for the fall (possibly longer, if the person is a good fit).  This is a paid position (at $12 per hour).

Responsibilities include producing a quarterly surgeon newsletter, maintaining/expanding our rep extranet, tracking/reporting on competitor messaging, assisting with creation of product collateral and assisting with events such as trade shows and our National Sales Meeting.  The person would also have the opportunity to learn about marketing and doing projects for our marketing managers.  We are looking for someone who is a great writer and project manager and also knows some graphic design.  We really need someone who works independently, is self-motivated and responsible and has a positive attitude.  View Job Description>

The United Way of North Central Florida has an unpaid internship available based in Gainesville on a semester basis with flexible hours.  This internship allows interns to gain experience through:
  • Writing, editing and designing a wide variety of communications tools
  • Planning and executing special events
  • Developing and executing comprehensive marketing/communications plans for specific target audiences

Ventana Productions is a screen printing and design company based in Coral Springs, FL with a branch office in Gainesville.  Both owners are UF graduates with degrees in Industrial Engineering and Public Relations.  Ventana Productions is looking for qualified students to contact potential customers and build relationships as well as maintain existing contacts.  Interns will also help prepare advertising materials and press kits, help produce finished products and assist with general office duties.  Past experience with communications is required and a general knowledge of Photoshop is preferred.

Position: Media Relations Internship

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection Press Office has an unpaid internship available based in Tallahassee on a semester basis with flexible hours.  This internship allows interns to gain media relations experience through:
  • Writing, editing and proofreading media events such as Cabinet meetings, press conferences and media briefings
  • Researching and responding to media inquiries
  • Updating media distribution lists
Interns must have strong writing, editing, communications and computer skills.  Successful interns leave the DEP with strong media writing skills, familiarity with media procedures, experience with media events, knowledge of Florida media and with a strong portfolio of written press materials.
